About Jake Dworski

"I was a fat kid growing up…and I hated it. I know what it’s like to be teased for being chubby, and how that experience lowers self-esteem and destroys self-confidence."

At an early age, Jake also discovered a way to break through physical and psychological roadblocks. "Weight training made the difference for me. It’s what powered my career as an amateur and a professional surfer. It’s also what motivated me to study anatomy, physiology, and nutrition in college."

While still a student, he became such an advocate of good health through proper exercise that he decided to turn his avocation into his vocation and founded Jake Dworski Fitness.

The Palisades resident is almost evangelical in his belief that weight training, combined with cardiovascular exercise and a sensible nutrition plan can create profound changes in people’s lives.

"A good trainer is a good teacher. I make sure each client understands the proper bio-mechanics around every exercise I design for his or her individualized program. I also teach the basics of sound nutrition. You can lift all the weights and do all the cardio in the world, but if your eating habits are out of whack, you won’t experience any appreciable change."

With professional certifications from NASM, NSCA, and almost seven years of full-time experience training clients of all ages and abilities, Jake prides himself on being a first-rate motivator. "No, I’m not a fierce taskmaster like Vince Lombardi or Pat Riley. What I’ve got is the ability to motivate people to take responsibility for themselves. The desire to change has to come from the client. I just clear the way so it can happen," says Dworski. "Seeing my clients become stronger, filled with energy and confidence is an enormous reward for me. I love knowing that because of my tutelage, my clients are feeling better and living more energetic lives."
